About

A reference desk, not a trading terminal.

What the app is for, how its numbers are produced, and what it deliberately does not do.

01

What it is

The app is a reference and record-keeping tool for physical gold. It shows a reference gold price across twelve currencies and seven weight units, converts units, purity and dealer premiums, and keeps a private ledger of the bars, coins and jewellery you own. Thirty short articles explain how gold is weighed, marked, priced and kept in different markets.

02

Who it is for

People who hold or buy physical gold and want the arithmetic in one place: a saver comparing a shop's per-gram quote with the ounce price, a family recording jewellery bought by weight, a traveller who needs tola, tael and troy ounce side by side, or anyone checking what premium a coin really carries.

03

Where the numbers come from

Gold prices and currency cross rates are produced on the device by a deterministic model that takes the current time as input. They are reference figures that follow a plausible path over time; they are not market data and will differ from any dealer, refiner, exchange or bank quote.

If you have a real quote, enter it under Settings as US dollars per troy ounce. Every screen then values gold at that number, and the app labels the price as manual.

What it is not

  • Not an exchange, broker, dealer or wallet. Nothing is bought, sold, held, stored or transferred.
  • Not a market data service. No live or delayed quotes are received.
  • Not advice. Values, conversions and articles are general information, not investment, tax or legal advice.
  • Not connected to any account. There is no sign-up and no login.

Articles

All thirty Atlas articles are original text written for the app, organised as Units, Purity, Forms, Prices and Keeping. They describe general market practice. Hallmarking rules, purity standards, duties and taxes vary by country and change over time; check official sources before relying on any of it.
